Role: Refugee Arts Advisor (consultant)
Location: Southampton OR London
Time commitment: up to 20 hours a month. 3 month contract with potential to extend to 1 year.
Start date: September 2017
Pay: £10 per hour
Seeking an individual with current or former refugee / humanitarian protection status to work with textile artist Alice Kettle as she develops artwork for an exhibition at the Whitworth Gallery in autumn 2018. The artist is looking for someone who has experience working in the arts; or someone who is passionate about the representation of refugees and asylum seekers within the arts.
The role could include advising the artist on representation; communications; assisting with events; project coordination; and community engagement.
The candidate will gain experience working with a leading artist in the textile art field; will be involved in the development of a body of artwork for an exhibition in a leading UK gallery; and will be involved with a range of different tasks over the course of a year. The projects aim is to support refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, and their involvement in the project. The candidate will support this aim.

- Legal right to work in the UK
- 2 years experience working in the arts
- Fluent English
